The GSTT had a second aerobics session for those who need physical health. That gives a good cardiovascular workout to improve heart health. It strengthens muscles and improves their tone as you move against water resistance. It improves flexibility with less risk of muscle and joint injuries in the water. It also gives great stress relief as water massages and cools you, which gives you a feeling of weightlessness and a sense of well-being.
The GSTT hosted its first ever interactive cooking session where those in attendance learned to make healthy, vegetarian dishes. Also, another Sip & Paint Event was held for our elderly adults to come out with family and friends to relax and have fun. Children had fun with face paint.

For Corpus Christi, the GSTT distributed four varieties of vegetable plant seeds to the public (1000 packs for around 500 people) at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Port of Spain.

International Elder Abuse Awareness Day
On this day, we took the opportunity to raise awareness on the unspoken issue of elder abuse. Several guest speakers gave advice on the mistreatment and neglect of elder adults, and the ways in which we can prevent and solve the problem. The following were speakers at this event: the Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, Mrs. Farah Ali Khan from the Legal Aid department and Sergeant Jacey Small of the Central Division C.O.P.S. and PC Adrian Sealey of the Guard and Emergency Branch from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and Mr. Winston Dookeran, former Finance Minister. All guests shared information on elder abuse, safety and protection and legal advisory for older adults, safety tips, elder abuse prevention, financial tips, and available resources and role of a holistic approach to older adults respectively.

Mother's Day Celebration
In honour of Mother’s Day, the Geriatric Society joyfully gave 100 free lunch boxes and 150 decorative plants to the public, to spread love and appreciation. A heartfelt thank you to all mothers for their endless care, love and strength.
The Geriatric Society conducted a Free Health camp after The Archdiocese at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Port of Spain. GSTT along with young Medical students were involved in that Health Camp and served our older adults with love and respect.
The Geriatric Society visited Nine Geriatric Homes in Central Trinidad and distributed several gift hampers that included provisions, home needs fans, blankets, towels, etc.
The Geriatric Society celebrates the Christmas season with warmth and joy at our Christmas Luncheon where we had food, live entertainment and delicious treats. Our registered members 65 years and above were able to spend a small part of their Christmas with us.
The GSTT celebrated our elderly adults in honour of International Older Persons Day. We commemorated special people in the community who served for the country. With this event, we also mark the GSTT’s first year anniversary. We issued certificates to the volunteers who participated and served in our society for one year.

Water Aerobics

Sip & Paint and Medical Health Camp
The GSTT took the opportunity to raise awareness on the importance of painting and music in life. This provided participants a fun, relaxing and creative environment that allowed participants to unleash their inner artist while enjoying a social gathering with friends, family, colleagues or the community. Also, we conducted a free health check-up for the sip and paint event participants.

The GSTT took the opportunity to raise awareness on the unspoken issue of elder abuse. Several guest speakers each contributed a small piece of advice on the mistreatment and neglect of older adults, and the ways in which we can prevent and solve the problem. The speakers were: Dr. Lavanya Thondavada, Mr. Marlon Allan Moore, Attorney-at-Law of the Legal Aid Clinic, WPC 8648 Williams Kelly from the TTPS, Mrs. Claire Eunice Gittens, and Fr. Martin Sirju. They shared information on elder abuse, legal advisory for older adults, safety tips, elder abuse prevention and available resources. Additionally, we were provided with live entertainment by music specialty, Mr. Jaydon Kalipersad, and Snakey HEAVEN Charles, the 2023 young king, monarch finalist, and front vocalist for Brass 2 the World.

Vegetable Plant Seeds distribution
We distributed four varieties of vegetable plant seeds to the public especially older adults (around 300 people) on the occasion of Corpus Christi at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Port of Spain.

Carnival Monday
GSTT partnered with Blow Mano Blow Mass this Carnival Monday to have a fun time for Carnival 2024. Enjoyment of mind, body and soul improves the health of older adults and help them to be ongoing contributors to the society. We encouraged older adults to participate in cultural events and to continue to have fun.

We launched the Geriatric Society of Trinidad and Tobago (GSTT) on October 16th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Port of Spain.
