The Geriatrics Society of Trinidad and Tobago values collaborations, and activity engages with other national societies and international organizations to enhance standards for providing care for older individuals. By sharing knowledge, resources, and best practices, our organizations can work together to address the unique needs and challenges associated with geriatric care.
Collaborating with other national organizations allows for the exchange of insights and experiences specific to the local context, fostering a better understanding of the cultural, social, and healthcare aspects relevant to the aging population in Trinidad and Tobago. Our partnerships aim to involve joint research initiatives, the development of educational programs, and the exchange of professionals and specialists knowledge.
We are pleased to announce that Geriatric Society is partnering with the Apollo Group of Hospitals to enhance healthcare for our older adults nationwide. This collaboration will feature interactive webinars designed to engage healthcare professionals and caregivers throughout the Trinidad and Tobago. Additionally, the initiative includes a range of Continuing Medical Education (CME) opportunities, such as fellowship programs in Geriatric Medicine, Palliative Care, and Elderly Nursing, along with workshops aimed at supporting the ongoing education of healthcare practitioners of the Trinidad and Tobago.
Flying Fish Swim Club providing Water aerobics for our seniors offers a low-impact exercise option that enhances physical fitness while minimizing the risk of injury. This form of exercise improve strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health. Overall, water aerobics serves as an effective and enjoyable way for older individuals to maintain an active lifestyle and promote overall well-being.
The GSTT collaborated with HCRLATT, to help our older adults active, healthy and live independently in a safe environment.
The South Dakota institute will provide interdisciplinary training for healthcare professionals in Geriatric medicine. It focuses on improving the quality of care for older adults through education, training, and the development of innovative models of care.
